I can't give Monateng enough praise. I had such a great time. The service is superb from front desk to cleaning service, game drives, shop assistant etc. The well thought out units are very well equipped with anything you might want or need and are immaculately clean. You can see that they take their feedback to heart and make improvements accordingly. So quiet and peaceful. There are lots of activities for people of all ages. I particularly enjoyed the game drive with Ruben and the walking trail. They are also very conveniently located, close to shops and restaurants but just far enough to feel like you're on holiday. They will definitely be seeing me again!

 I utilised my RCI points for this booking. Close to town yet perfectly situated in the bush. Well maintained and clean surroundings. We had a lovely stay in Unit 9 Rooibok. Spacious and clean units which contain everything you need for self catering. Friendly staff. Fun activities in the games room for children. Lovely bicycle routes. I definitely recommend this resort for a relaxing break from the city. Game drive and croc tour was great.

From the moment we arrived, the friendly greeting at the gate set the tone for a fantastic stay. The sand roads inside are good and well maintained, and we were lucky enough to see three beautiful giraffes on our way in. The chalets are very large and comfortable, and the whole resort is immaculate. The swimming pool area and viewing deck are absolutely stunning, and the spa offers massages that are excellent value. A special mention to our ranger and the game drive—excellent guiding and birds in abundance. Highly recommended.

From the reception, the reception staff and security were very friendly and kind. The chalet (2-sleeper) were more than what we expected, very spacious. Special thanks to Anna for keeping the chalet clean and her friendliness. The only challenge is the shower was small. In terms of the staff around the lodge, they were very helpful and the restaurant staff made very nice cocktails especially the lady with gold teeth (lol forgot the name) who even made me a special mocktail on the 18th February 2026 after the game drive. In terms of the activities, the game drive was great, we saw a lot of animals I would recommend the sunset game drive. The driver of the game drive informed us that he was standing in and was from Mabalingwe however his service and knowledge was great. Thanks to him for also taking us pictures to capture the moments. The massage from Mbali Day Spa was great for my partner who wasn't sure about it but Thobeka made it very pleasant and soothing for him. He is definitely coming back for the hot stones 😂 We were just disappointed that we couldn't do the crocodile tour because of a lack of bookings. The pool was very clean and gave us a chance to meet new people while cooling down from the hot sun in the pool. Overall, we will definitely be coming back.

We had a lovely few days at Monateng Safari Lodge. The chalets were well equipped, comfortable and clean, as were the amenities. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and gave 110% to everything they did. When we arrived there was no power, and we were given LED lights. Whilst there was information on when the generator would run in the welcome / information leaflet, there were no generators. The restaurant was still able to serve pizzas. They advertised game drives throughout the week and we booked one on the Monday, for the Thursday. Unfortunately they cancelled the drive at the last minute on the Thursday, leaving us no opportunity to find an alternative. They advised this was because of a broken down vehicle, which hadn’t worked all week, yet they still took bookings and payment (which was refunded) . The lodges and staff were amazing, but don’t feel the management of Monateng give them enough support with the main things, for example saying that there are generators and game drives but not actually being able to provide them!

Monateng is always a good idea! Just go get away for a short or long stay! The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly! We love it Only thing I would ask them to change is the cash only rule in the entertainment area.. everywhere else is cashless but the entertainment area is cash only… this creates a difficult situation for those who try not to have cash on hand… you also can’t get cash from the shop or restaurant in return for swiping your card.

Monateng safari lodge is a gem close to Johannesburg where your soul can rest and recharge. The chalets are comfortable and well equipped. The restaurant and pub is awesome for those evenings when you don't want to cater. But the view from the restaurant... It is absolutely stunning. Watching the sun set while enjoying a cocktail and listening to jackals calling. There is just no words.

 Best Lodge i have been to so far, the people, the place, the location, everything was absolutely amazing. We will definitely we coming back to visit the lodge again. My top tier was the chalet we were staying at and also the walking trail, Oh and also the view from the Take away Bar, absolutely stunning and breathtaking 😍. I am definitely going to recommend the lodge to my friends 🧡

The whole weekend we were here was amazing. But I so looked forward to the game drive but it is full booked.Afterwards I hear there is only one person doing the drive. Not happy about that
